Pastor Mauro & Connie have established two churhes, oversee two Bible Schools, train leaders and pastors and have translated and printed 40 books in Italian. Furthermore, they hold conferences and pastor's seminars, feed and clothe the needy, and oversee a prison ministry.
Rev. Mauro Girgenti was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit in April of 1977. He sensed the call of God on his life and in 1981 he attended Bible school. After he graduated, he served as assistant pastor at a church in Mississauga (Ontario). Then, in December of 1982 he started Word of Life church in Toronto and he and his wife Connie pastored that church for 12 years. He also taught in various Bible schools: Liberty Bible Training Centre (1982-1987), World Impact Bible Institute (1987-1992), and World Harvest Bible Institute (1992-1994). Currently he is teaching and ministering the Word in local churches and Bible schools in Europe.
Through all these years, he took short-term mission trips to Italy and he always saw a great need but did not receive the call to move there until February of 1994. While in Palermo (Italy), Rev. Girgenti had a special visitation during which the Lord told him that He was moving him to his next phase of ministry and that He had called him to go to Italy as a missionary. In July of the same year he resigned from Word of Life, he handed the church over to his assistant pastor, and he founded GOOD NEWS MINISTRIES, a non-profit missionary organization affiliated with C.F.C.M. (Canadian Fellowship of Churches and Ministers). In September of the same year, along with Connie and their four year old girl Laura, he moved to Italy where, in July of 1995, their second daughter Deborah was born. Sarah, the Girgentiís third daughter was born in Italy in 2001.
God had been preparing Rev. Girgenti for this task his whole life, both spiritually and in the natural. When he was fourteen years old, he moved to Canada from Italy and was saved when he was seventeen. The Lord taught him and prepared him, and then He called him to go back to Italy and bring the Word to his native nation. Rev. Girgenti has studied both in Canada and Italy, and therefore understands Italian customs and is fluent in the Italian language.
